Scratch and Peck Organic Layer Feed 16% Protein + Corn for Chickens & Ducks - 40 lb
Scratch and Peck Feeds Organic Layer Feed 16% Protein + Corn is a special blend of cracked organic grains, organic flax meal, and select vitamins and minerals sourced from North American farms. Similar to Naturally Free Organic Starter and Grower, the Organic Layer Feed 16% + Corn contains an optimum level of protein for Stage Three feeding.
This Stage Three feed is appropriate for laying hens ages 20+ weeks with the necessary protein to support healthy egg production. The higher levels of calcium found in this blend help to produce stronger eggshells.
This feed is suitable for ducks, geese, and all waterfowl.
Practicing Flock Management Best Practices will give your flock the best chance for a long and healthy, happy life. During Stage Three recommend Scratch and Peck Feeds Cluckin’ Good Layer Grit paired with Cluckin’ Good Oyster Shell and Cluckin’ Good Organic Herbs.
A nutritionally complete premium diet combined with fresh water, a clean coop and nesting environment, and plenty of fresh air, sunshine, and room to roam is among the most important considerations for your flock’s long-term wellbeing. Visit the Learning Center and refer to the Feeding Guides for advice on feeding your flock.
Ingredients
Organic Peas, Organic Barley, Organic Wheat, Organic Corn, Ground Limestone, Organic Flaxseed Meal, Organic Sesame Meal, Fish Meal, Organic Flaxseed Oil, Vitamin and Mineral Pre-Mix.
Feeding Directions
Your hens should be approaching their full grown size at approximately 18-20 weeks of age. Begin introducing Organic Layer with Corn 16% gradually to allow for a slow adjustment to the new feed formula. This is more important when switching from a different type of feed such as crumbles or pellets as your chickens may not immediately know how to consume a mash style feed.
Refill feeders only after all feed has been consumed (til they “clean up their plates”). Trough feeders provide the best access to the whole grain feeds. Be sure to offer fresh water, plenty of Cluckin’ Good Layer Grit and you can begin to supplement Cluckin’ Good Oyster Shell.
Feel free to continue offering Organic 3-Grain Scratch or Organic Scratch n’ Corn by tossing around their run to promote foraging (scratching and pecking) or use as a training tool!
You can also boost the nutrients by fermenting your flock’s feed.
